Second Prize – “The Poly Island”  –  Writers of the Future Contest, 1st quarter, 2011 — This was a terrific win for me.  I’d entered four times before and been awarded honorable mention twice.  I cannot say enough good about the terrific week I spent in Hollywood with terrific writers.  At the link that follows you can see a terrific dance piece based on a scene in the story–and my acceptance speech.  The Poly Islands In addition to the $750 prize there was a $500 advance against royalties.   Included a week in the Roosevelt Hotel, master classes and the prize banquet itself, a black-tie event.
